Marrow is a Chrome extension that scores Reddit posts. This page says exactly what it reads, what leaves your browser, where it goes, and what is kept. The short version: your reading history stays on your computer; when Marrow’s servers score a post, they keep the score, never who read it.
What stays in your browser
- The scores Marrow computes, the subreddit ledger, your settings, your ratings (“Too high”, “About right”, “Too low”) and what Marrow has learned from them, the log of subscription changes, and which posts you’ve seen recently. These live in your browser’s storage. You can export or delete them in Marrow’s Settings, and uninstalling Marrow removes them.
- If you use your own AI key (Unlimited), the key is stored only in your browser. Marrow’s servers never see it.
What Marrow reads on Reddit
- The listing pages you open on reddit.com (home, subreddits, r/popular, r/all, search), to score the posts on them.
- With AI scoring on: each post’s text, top comments and image, fetched from Reddit in your own signed-in session, at no more than 30 requests a minute.
- With subscription management on: the list of subreddits you’ve joined and moderate. If you turn on “Make changes on Reddit”, Marrow joins and leaves subreddits in your session, within the limits shown in Settings. Every change is logged and can be undone for 30 days. It is off by default.
Linked articles
If you allow it, Marrow fetches the page a post links to so the AI can read it. These requests are sent without your cookies, so they don’t sign you in anywhere or use up paywall limits. Marrow only fetches pages linked from posts you scroll past.
What leaves your browser, and where it goes
- Free (quick scores): nothing about the posts you read. If usage counts are on (see below), a daily set of anonymous numbers.
- Every plan: every few hours Marrow downloads its latest scoring data from its own server: how to read Reddit’s page layout, the lists of news sources and words it scores with, and its scoring weights. The request carries no cookies and nothing about you or what you read.
- Pro and the trial: for each post Marrow scores with AI, the post’s title, text, subreddit, top comments (without usernames), an extract of the linked article and a link to its image go to Marrow’s scoring service, which sends them to Anthropic (the maker of Claude) to produce the score. Marrow keeps the resulting score record, keyed by the post’s ID, so the next reader gets it instantly. It does not keep the post’s content and does not record who asked for the score. Anthropic processes this content under its commercial terms and does not use it to train its models.
- Unlimited: the same post content goes directly from your browser to the AI provider whose key you entered (Anthropic or OpenAI), under your own account with them. It does not pass through Marrow.
Your account
Signing in with Google lets Marrow know your plan. Marrow receives a token from Google and keeps only a one-way scrambled version of your Google account ID, your plan, your trial dates and, if you pay, your Stripe customer ID. It does not keep your name or email address.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your email and payment details under its own privacy policy; Marrow never sees your card number.
Usage counts
Unless you turn it off in Settings, Marrow sends a few anonymous numbers once a day: how many posts were scored and hidden, the mix of tiers, and whether Reddit’s page layout parsed correctly. These counts never include URLs, titles, subreddit names you visited, or usernames.
This website
getmarrow.io uses no cookies and no third-party trackers. To compare two headlines, your browser remembers which one it was shown for 30 days, and the site counts page views and “Add to Chrome” clicks per headline, without storing IP addresses or anything that identifies you.
Keeping and deleting
Score records on Marrow’s servers are about posts, not people, and are kept to serve future readers. To delete your account record (plan and trial), email hello@getmarrow.io from any address and tell us; we will confirm by asking you to sign in. Local data is yours to delete in Settings at any time.
Children
Marrow is not directed at children under 13, and you must be old enough to use Reddit to use it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is sent or kept, the extension will tell you before the change applies.
